Ive just bought a PS2 console for when I am at graft,and i have a few old PS1 games.I thought the PS2 would play original PS1 games.???It is an old PS2 not a slim etc.

The fat ps2 can play original ps1 games fine.

Thats what i thought,but this one just gives me an disk error.I have tried various PS1 disks.
The model number is SCPH-39003 and it is an old fat one.

Try cleaning your laser lens with Rubbing Alcohol and a q-tip

Dip the q-tip in the Rubbing Alcohol, but not so its dripping, clean in a circular motion, gently but firmly for about 30 secs

Using the dry end of q-tip, dry the laser in the same manner.

A lot of PS2 lasers get old and will still read DVD, but not CD as well, or vice versa.

Sometimes just a cleaning can prolong the laser that much longer.

Cleaned the Ps2 entirely tonight,inside circuits boards,covers and the laser with neat alcohol.Its working spot on now and playing ps1 games.
