I just replaced the laser in my slim version 12. It sees my disks ok but freezes up after the disk intro is done on all ps2 dvd's and cd's ps1 games boot fine though. I messed with the laser pots after marking them so id know where it was set originally and it made no difference. Is there more to setting up the laser or do I have a different issue all together. I did remove the anti static solder before installation and even cleaned the laser for good measure. I bought new games to set up the laser figuring new is better. I tested the games after in a version 1 I have that is fussy about disks and they all booted fine. The laser ribbon was bad and I replaced that to. I replaced a laser with a used one and had no trouble doing it but this one is new and I'm thinking maybe a new one needs more done to work right. Thanks for reading my post.
