So, I have 4 years old mod-chipped slim playstation 2 (SCPH-70004) and it can't read anything for about 3 months, but I had problems with it for about year and half.
I know there are many questions like this on the net, but most are about fat ps2, and those about slim ps2 doesn't seem to match my problem.
Game CDs (original, burned too) - can't read, making clicking noise.
Game DVDs (original, burned too) - reads maybe 1 of 15 tries, BUT suddenly restarts before the title "Playstation 2" appears.
Music CDs - same as game CDs
Movies - same as game DVDs
I've tried cleaning the lens many times, with no success.
And when the disc is spinning, it slows down and speeds up, slows down and speeds up, and making strange grinding sound.
And it's leaving 360° circle scratches on each disc.
Is there any solution except of buying new PS2 or PS3 or taking it to Sony for repair?
But I think it's completely the end...

the 9000x series gamestop sells only needs one sensor block (2, but just block one witha wire and you can close it like normal) so no need to open up. just insert swap magic. i believe they are selling the current one with toy story :P at gamestop.
