My standard PS2 AV cable had worn off so i went to buy a new cable.I saw Component cables and as they have support progressive scan for many PS2 games,i picked them up.
These are the PS3 component cables SONY's sells these days which are also compatible with PS2.
It is working on my PS3 but i am having problems on my PS2.I have set the Component settings YPBPR(changed from RGB),i did this using my old AV cables
when i start the PS2,I hear the audio but no video(although just when start my PS2 MY LCD seems to get signal as it i see the backlight but the screen remains back but after 2 seconds it goes back to no signal found)
also i tried using a game(Resident Evil 4),the game worked and i could see the video.it was in 4:3 settings though but i can still not get the PS2 startup or the bootmenu video.
You may know this but I didn't. My TV has multiple AV channels for different types of input (AV/1, AV/2,AV/3, Component, DVD, PC etc.). As soon as I changed video mode in my PS2 system configuration from AV to RGB the screen went black. Then I had to change the channel from AV/3 (where my game showed up via standard AV cables) to Component (where it showed up after changing video mode).
