I have been to Youtube, this site, and other sites that tell you on how to play back up ps1 games on a ps2 without a mod chip or swap magic. The method I am talking about is the one where you have an original ps1 game, a slide card, and your back up. Start up the ps2 without a disk, go to browser, put in original ps1 game, wait for cd to pop up, use slide card to remove psx cd and put back up (without pressing eject button) and press "x" to play. Yeah, I did all that, except it never works for me. After the screen turns black, all I hear is a clicking sound that never ends. I move the cog around again (right and then left) and the ps1 logo comes up, but then I hear the clicking sound again and it never starts. I don't think I am doing anything wrong...Anyone know how to help me? I heard that this only works for V9 ps2's. Yes, I DO have a V9 ps2. These are the specs if I am wrong:
Console: SCPH-50001
Browser: 1.40
Cd Player: 2.00
PlayStation Driver: 1.11
DVD Player: 3.00U
Unless I am missing something here, I am doing everything right. Thank you in advance for your help. Oh, also, there were different methods of swapping the disks. This ninja kid says to swap it super fast when the ps1 logo is up -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhCc4X6YbuI
While this other guy says to swap it while in the browser -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ7N5AfWtNA
And then this mad scientist takes apart his ps2 just to play a back up -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us9nwXnRjqM
I tried the first to already with different back up disks, but no luck. And I ain't trying the third... Thank you....again. lawl

My ps2 still plays original ps1 games (i tried all the ones I have, and they all work perfectly), so I know that can't be the problem. It's just the backup's that I'm having problems with. I even did a test to see if there was a mistake in my disk swapping. I took out the original psx cd, and put in another original psx game. After a few seconds, the 2nd game started up perfectly. And I know that the game is burned onto the CD well because when I put in the burned cd into my PC and ran it with an emulator, it works well.

a pc emulator doesn't need sub channel information off the disc, so you cant rule out a bad burn.
if you don't mind my asking what game is it.

Like, Final Fantasy 7, 8, Legend of Dragoon, Ape Escape... Well, if what you said is true, then I may have to burn the cd's again

let me know how it goes..
im trying to play backup ps1 games on a new slim 90001 model with sensor modifications in effect by placing an origional ps1 game in the console, then triggering the sensor to read the disc, then when the disc shows up in the browser, swap it with a copy of another game, i get past the sony logo to the company logo (ie; squaresoft) then it freezes.
is this method futile?
could it be the origional ps1 game im using is mortal combat trilogy (this is the only game i have at the moment) and it is not playable on ps2, it will only load up to the title screen.
can anyone vouch for this method or tell me what i'm doing wrong?
*edit: im using a maxell cd-r (5 for $2.00)

i have seen this method in action on youtube, the slim method i described and the slide card/fat ps2 method, and they both seemed to work.
and i've read something about it working with ps2 games the same way
the only problem with these methods is burning out the motor on the slim stopping the disc in mid-spin over and over again.
*edit: ok i finally got it to work (for some reason magicISO wouldnt convert to a bootable iso, and for games which i already had a working iso magicISO it wouldn't burn a disc that booted in my ps2 so i wasted about 4 discs fucking with it, but nero did, so that's what i'm using)
this is what you have to do, make sure the image you are burning is an .iso image and check to see if it boots in a epsxe or another psx emulator. then using nero smart start check burn image to disc under the cd tab, or in nero express just select burn image, either way when it prompts you which file to open make sure to change the files of type option bar from 'all nero compilation and images' to 'image files (nrg. iso. cue.)'. then select the folder with the iso image, open the file and burn it. voila, a ps2 bootable psx image.
