I just helped my friend get the memory card exploit going and it works all well (since I copied my file to his memory card obviously), but the thing is, is that when we try to play his imports/backups with CogSwap, it simply doesn't work. One thing for sure, is that we both have the same model PS2.

I tried to clean up his system and lens and still nothing.

When we do try to get it working, the PS2 has this clicking sound; the lens struggling to find what it has to read in order to get the game going.

One weird thing though, is that everthing else reads fine; PS1, PS2, and DVDs. Any help would be appreciated!

Even though they are the same model PS2, and all other discs work fine on your Friends PS2, you may want to try a different brand of DVD to burn on.

That is all I can suggest if everything else works fine and your sure his laser is good.

Hmmm...I've been using Memorex all the time for all of my backups and they've worked fine on another one of my buddies' PS2.

I guess I'll try a Verbatim DVD-R that my brother has in his room. I'll come back with the details

Well this is odd...the Verbatim discs ended up working on my friend's console, but the Memorex discs don't (which I usually use that work on my PS2 all the time!).

I've gotten all 3 of his backups/imports working, except for Sengoku Basara X. It's really weird that I can get it working, with no problem at all, using CogSwap on my console (with Memorex), but on his (with a Verbatim), he just gets a black screen when we try it.

One thing I did try was my actual Swap Magic 3 Plus disc. Even that has a hard time reading on his PS2, but after a few ejects and loading again, it finally read it, we swapped it for the Sengoku Basara X and it just started working that way. My Swap Magic disc works fine on my console too!

It probably is the lens which I don't understand why, but what got me is how it SBX worked on it (after a few tries).

What should I do about this? Are there any other backup loaders that I can give my friend, maybe that I can burn or put it on his memory card for the exploit?

EDIT - Ok, now I'm confused. I decided to try SBX myself for the heck of it and I'm using the backup I burned for him (Verbatim) on my system, but now, it's not even working! When I first tried it on my system, it worked just fine with the Memorex disc! :(

You could try esr r9b direct dvdv elf or cdloader
With the esr.elf though you would first have to patch the ISO image, then burn it
Or you can put Swap Magic 3.8 elf on his memory card also.
