ps2 slim laser replaced

hello i have replaced the laser and the laser works but the disc wont spin i have read numerous sites and none seem to really answer. i have desoldered the point and the laser beam works but the disc spindle doesnt work i have replaced that also.

If it worked fine before you replaced the laser, then I would recheck to make sure you desoldered it correctly.

well i put the old laser back in and it doesnt spin so im guessing a fuse is blown

Well either a fuse or also check to make sure the ribbon cable didn't come loose.

thanks man ill have a check at it because i bought a new laser a new motor spindle and if its easy to fix the fuse then it would be awesome.

i know this might sound stupid but i have a multimeter but its not the digital one so how would i set that to test the fuse.

Hi there. First check all the cables with a multimeter - if your motor worked before your lens chaging - the problem could be here. Look that the cables are connected properly. Try to roll the motor spindel with your finger - it must go without any force. If your fuses are fine it could be the motor driver (ic RS200x).
Test voltage: dissamble everything from your motherboard but reset button, turn it on, black wire - to the ground, red one - to a fuse. If it is bad there is low or no voltage. Test resistance: do not turn on your motherboard, touch a fuse with the wires of your multimeter. If it is bad there is no resistance.

ok ill try the fuse thing. i bought new laser and laser motor and all that so i dont think its those so it must be a fuse somewhere
