I got a PS2 from a friend. I was finally able to play movies after rigging it with a heavy book placed upon the top of the PS2. I think the problem is with the lid but don't know how to go about fixing it other than the book idea. Also, it will play movies, but the games that came with it won't play. I don't even get a disc error, it just sits on the main screen asking to go to browser or system configuration. Can someone shed some light. We got the system for free (my first clue something was wrong) and we don't want to put a ton of money into it.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

with the lid if you can open the ps2 up and place a piece of sticky tape over the thing(should be a button that is pressed when you close the lid) that controls the laser on it might help.with the game problem it could be the games (ect wrong region,copied,damaged) or it could be the laser.If they have messed around trying to mod it could be a software issue.
