Where does the 18x22mm metal plate (with a screw hole in the middle) go on Slim PS2? I opened my Slim PS2 SCPH-70012 up and the plate fell out. I was able to fix the broken solder joint on the power connector and get the system working, but I have it back open because I am concerned that it is something important like a heatsink or guard for something. I already have SCPH 70000 series Service Manual 1st Edition but it does not show this part from what I can see by looking through the exploded diagrams twice. I just need to know where it goes!
If it is the thin, stamped plate, then you don't need it, these plates are used to reduce RFI interferance, but the interferance is so minor that it would only hurt TV & radio reception for something with an antenna mounted on the PS2.

I realized that what you were talking about is actualy part of the vertical mount. The plate goes into the side of the unit, on the short, flat side of the case.
SOLVED:
A guy on youtube who had removed the part in his video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDXlmPa-X20&feature=email replied. Here's the YouTube comment that he left:
"ah so when u have the ps2 faced with the memory card and controller ports to u open it and on the left side there must be a hole to put the metal in vertically..."
This metal plate has a screw hole in it--once I got the PS2 back together, I realized that the plate presumably is meant for screwing in a stand for keeping slim PS2 in a vertical position. It may also help align the top and bottom, at least for assembly.
