you cannot share from a sky box. you need to replace it with a dreambox in your main tv area and then share with another dreambox in whatever other areas you have tvs in. piopats tutorial is written for a dm500 but it takes little imagination to transport it to a dm800 environment

hi mate you cant use a sky+ hd box for card sharing sorry ,mr murdoch wouldnt be that kind to us lol . you will need two cardsharing capable boxes , for example you could use the dm800 you mention as the server and a less expensive box such as a skybox f3 as the client box .

yes the instructions at the start of this tutorial are still valid , they are with a dm500 in mind but you can use a lot of the information to set up a dm800 .

if theres no light visible through the vents at the top of teh boxes then the router isnt seeing either box for some reason .the first thing to check is that dhcp is enabled on both boxes , to do that press menu button /then press 6 (setup)/then select expert setup /then select communication setup and enable dhcp and save . you might also need to restart the router .

the pairing we had all along is not the type of pairing im talking about now , sky are offering uk customers new boxes and the sky card will only work in that box . currently you can pop a card in a dreambox with cccam and it will read the card and likewise with oscam , but with the new setup the card will only work in the skybox its locked/paired to . ive no idea if this can be worked around , this i guess is simillar in a way to how cable tv boxes and cards work ,they can be worked around but it requires some specialist knowledge and equipment , whether that can be done with the new sky system i have no idea at this point . so far it seems to be the hd boxes that are being upgradedi dont know about the sd boxes , and i dont know of anyone in ireland that has been informed of a box switch over or had an offer of a box to switch over. and i dont know if they can just force many millions of sd customers to switch over to the more expensive hd channls if they dont want to but who knows.

based on comments from piopat, mickah and pudzyryan did a bit of checking around. it does seem that the end of card sharing is upon us. it looks like HD channels will be gone by end of May and then its only a matter of months before SD goes. Its following the exact same trend as the end to sharing in Australia. Can anyone confirm having entitlements past May 30th on any linux/card sharing box?

Thanks fintannl,

Didn't pay out very much anyway,,only ?40 Euros...So if I even got 2 months,I'd be happy with that.
I'd sure miss the Heineken Cup Rugby though..That'll be a killer.

Yeah,,things have to change. Can't last forever.
Like all the other "hacks" down through the years.

don't talk to me about missing heineken cup. my nephew plays HC and is involved in the national squad. but as with cable, satellite had to die also. in truth it only changes the game a bit. internet streaming is where it is at and icefilms for your films and streaming of sports content is already available. so its really no big deal. rather than paying sky mad amounts of money each month now you just stream the content you actually want to watch. like any issue in life it just takes a bump to get you to look at the alternatives and from what i see the alternatives aint half bad :-)

I'm not pushed about movies at all,to be honest. I never was,,despite nearly always having those channels.
I'm not a big fan of streams,,as when you get big games, they tend to break down to the point of being un-watchable.
Fair dues to your nephew..must be mighty proud.

in truth my mum will probably be the most upset person about all this as she no longer gets to see her grandson on TV each week :-(. But yes I take the point that streaming can be poor. However I have found that using a quality broadband solution will alleviate that issue (not always, but in most cases). My VU Duo streams really well with my current broadband bundle. So all this will likely mean is that folks will sign-up to better internet solutions

That was supposed to be My point,,but I forgot to mention it... lol.

As the cardsharing breaks down and finally goes off,,more and more people will turn to streams..Then the quality will really be poor.
I think after c/s goes,,it'll be time for someone to put in a serious effort to get round it,,or have a good crack at the Nagra3.
I think there is too much money in hacked services for someone not to put in the effort.

not sure i agree totally. consider the fact that sky on demand is a streaming solution and also depends on bandwidth/speed. i have an xbox setup in a friends house with access to all the sky channels and a mad amount of films from sky based on my subscription and i go over be times and its perfect with his broadband bundle. so do remember that sky depend on quality broadband for their services, hence streaming quality will only get better as operators need it to supply their services.

Hmmmmm,,I never thought of it that way..

I have broadband that gets between 3MB and 6MB. So it's not the best.

Is it easy to stream using a PS3? I messed around a bit with it before,,but I could never get it working properly.

the vu+ has iptv capability ,it works via internet and yes its dependent on a good internet speed (certainly for hd ) but that seems to be the next generation .but who knows (never say die )who knows what people can come up with satellite wise .also and i know its not an option open to all but if your motorised with a line and even free to air you can pick up a wealth of viewing , many sporting events that sky charge for are free on other sats (all be it maybe with a foreign language )or viewable with a multisat line .

but at this point atleast for now it doesnt sem as tho irish cards will be affected so for a while atleast (i dont know how long ) we will be ok . so if you have a line from a server that supplies rte and setanta then you should be ok for a bit .

anto it would be extremely unusuall for a person to recieve two faulty dm500s boxes .can you bring one box to a mate or family members house and see if their router sees the box .

I think we'll see an end to sharing for HD only by the summer & sd by 2014 sometime.....

Two of my friends entitlements are up in the 25th of May.... if these change I will notify this thread.

All things come to an end...... but other doors will open.

friend bought 5 dm500s for tvs around his premises. out of the box 2 of them did not light up the network connection. after 1 month another box died with network connection failure. seems the dm500s coming out of china are degrading in quality. worst is that there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. dhcp enabled or disabled is not important. what i would suggest is using proven cables from router to dm500. if no network light is visible then curtains. noticed in recent purchases that network light is blue as compared to older purchases which were orange (obviously different manufacturers). The blue light one is far less dependable than the orange light one. In this case I do believe that the two boxes are shagged. The cost o returning them to china over buying a new box makes the effort not worth it sadly

it seems this may be a mute point, as all my entitlements go to may 28, but can anyone tell me if, using a vu+ cccam_2.2.1, i can simply put a second card in tne bottom slot with just the correct boxkey line in cccam to share the load of the clients?
