Sat only & c/s sub, might be better to look at Technomate boxes. Think blade is a eurovox brand
but TM have much better support & full range of boxes to suit your pocket. Have a look at the
skywonder site

THX eamo-too.blade is easy to set up.supports ccam and newcam proper 1080p hd 3d and plays avi and mkv files for movies.but as stated support is a bit thin on the ground at the moment december was the last update.there are plenty of boxes out there to choose from i went for the blade due to good feedback and easy setup.all i need now is a reliable csline???

Hi, one of my friends bought a Blade 7000s HD box from a local supplier...it was already fully setup with CS/sub....what would happen if she flashed the box or did a factory reset for some reason ....would she lose the CS/sub and if that happened..how could she make it work again...? and also..she doesnt know who the CS/sub is with as the supplier did not tell her...

The box has been working great so far for the last 5 weeks...all hd channels are working..but when she loaded the sly channel list(.cndf file), nothing changed...list didnt change like it should...any ideas on that also?

Thanks in advance.

a factory reset would lose her cline info.she is best to keep a record of the cline info for future reference.9991 will take you to the cline slots take the info from whatever slot she is using ip address, user name, password type of cam ect.you can upload it to a usb stick then if she loses it she will have the info.as for the cndf file you would have to delete all existing channels first, put cndf file on usb stick hilight the file on the blade and press ok NOT download.it will then write your file to blade.

Thats great..thanks...she got the screen up that you are refering to..but when she tried to save the CSInfo by pressing the GRP button on remote..the box prompts for a password....she tried 0000, but it doesnt accept that.....any ideas or is there another way to save the CSInfo>

thanks again.

hi again..we tried that code 9991...but anything we try on that top line (1, connection _0, cccam), it asks for pin....tried it even by disconnecting the box from the internet....do u think the supplier may have inserted their own pin code? is the only way to fix this a visit to the supplier?

Hi...again...my friend went to the supplier today...they refused to give her the pin...because they dont want to disclose the CS/line...she was there for around 20mins telling them that she paid for the box and the cs/sub so she should have access to this info...but they wouldnt have any of it....so she just left very dissapointed...i told my friend its not worth going bak to them...and just wait till the 12 month cs/sub is up..and then somehow reset the blade box...but will she be able to reset/flash the box...will she need that pin to flash the box?.....

at worst i guess..when the 12/mth sub is done...take the box to the supplier and get them to flash it and then purchase the cs/sub from the internet like eveyr1 else..is that a good idea?

i will be getting a blade soon...im just glad i wont be buying it from that supplier..those guys have caused her alot of stress..

any other suggestions would be appreciated. thanks again.

In fairness to them, they probably do that to stop the user messing up the settings as well.
I would assume that if she can write the info down from the screen, she would have everything she needs to set the box back up again after a reflash?
I would also expect that reflashing the box would remove any PIN number that they set up on it anyway.

But if there is nothing wrong with the box, I would suggest she leaves it as it is, in case she does mess it up.

Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

yeahh..she just going to leave it as it is..cos the box is working great...no other option at the moment really.

when she press 9991 on the remote..it brings up the "server list"...thats as far as she can go...that screen just displays the server lists..and no.1 is active...anything she tries to do on the screen...anything at all (other than Exit)...it prompts for the PIN..so she cant see any connection details...username..password ...dns..ip etc..so she cant write it down either.

thanks for all your help anyways...great stuff.

is there decent cs/sub you guys can recommend me...for my use..as i will be getting one of these box soon...and what sort of price roughly we talking about...cos i never tried any these boxes b4...always had SV.

cs info on these boxes contain username and password and ip of server. the server that the box connects to allows you to connect because the username and password is valid. the second you connect, the server starts a clock and one year later the username and password is disabled. it is irrelevant if you do a factory reset or not. the server has all the information it needs. once the timer expires then so does the box. you can do nothing about this whatsoever. you will be unable to change username and password details or any other cs info. the second you connect to the server defines the second you get disconnected from the server.

what about a reflash after the year? surly this would delete any csline info thats locked.making the box useable again with another csline.or just over write with a blank or new csline txt.or there are other slots you could enable for a different cline provider.plenty of options after the year to keep the box running on a different c/nline.just ask supplier if its ok to update firmware then if he says ok and it goes tits up take it back.

That's nippy about the PIN....as you need to upgrade the firmware regularly depending on what your running just now (Menu/Installation/System Info)

(Push comes to shove you could always say someone reset the box by mistake and they'd presumably re-load for you if it all goes pear shaped)

However, there is an easier way to copy the CS Info (and the Channel Data and update/backup the firmware if your not using V1.19b - which has backwardly compatible protocols for a much wider range of routers - Netgear buy from tons of places so some use older protocols than others, even though they're badged as Netgear Model xyz etc).

Stick a USB pen drive in the back of the unit, then Menu, Utils, Download.

Pressing the RED button saves your channels BUT pressing the blue backs up the whole .STB file for your box onto the USB drive. Even if you do a complete factory reset to a blank box, you can still go back into the same menu, navigate to the same download menu, and just press OK on the .STB file. It keeps all your CSInfo.

Even if you do a factory reset, it still keeps the cs info... but wipes the channels. So rebuild from your .STB file then press OK on the .CNDF (channel file) and bingo, your box is back. If you did know your PIN you can back up all the CS info from channel 9991 then PIN, then press the GROUPS button.. again it's saved to USB.

Hope that helps m8 ;)

Thanks for that ensoniq...we tried your suggestions and managed to back up 3 files on a usb stick...just hope my friend can fall back on these files if a problem arises.

1 othwer question...if we had to flash the box, would it require a pin/password..and is flashing the box done by holding the menu button while turning the box on, or is that just a normal reset?

thanks a million for help already provided to ALL you guys...

Hi Gerrard08,

If you've got the CNDF file (channels) and the STB file (the actual box's image) you'll be fine.. (though you'll still find you can't access the suppliers modified password - like now, so no change there).

I have a couple of Blades and before I posted, had 2 *test* lines on one that I created, had a full favourite/channel selection etc.. - I used the download menu, SAVE STB option and save the box image onto USB then.. went in, deleted all channels and factory reset the unit (right back to the point it's asking if I want it in English, Turkish, Swedish etc - just to confirm the info).

Menu/Download - and the USB pen drive STB file (which was still in the back of the box) was there, so moved down to the back up just made, pressed OK and let it do the rebuild on the box.

Box came back on with no channels, BUT with the new V1.19b firmware (as it had previously) AND the test connections I'd set up.

Back into download, picked the channel list (NCDF) from the USB drive, pressed OK - 10 seconds later - everything back in order ... just the way it was 5 minutes before.

The days of Null Modem cables and powering on/off at the right point are long gone (that's older technology) - the Blade and others (like the Kryptview KV780) will or do already all update direct from the web - starting with regional channel lists (so you don't have to bother finding BBC Wales instead of BBC London etc).

As I said in last post, if push comes to shove and they won't give you the PIN (a. it's a little suspicious - as most lines are pretty much anonymous via VPN!?), (b. it's a bit cheeky full stop) and (c. when you explain your mother in law was trying to wash your 'smalls' in a standard 40 degree non-fast colour wash - she used the wrong remote and reset your Blade - lol... if they won't give you the PIN, then presumably they've backed up your box details somewhere as they'll have the Serial/MAC of the Ethernet connection).

Cheers
