no point in crossing the bridge before you come to it is my thinking and if they do go down and i say IF do people really want to wait 4 months on a fix for starview ??
or months for a fix on itgate and no fixes for any others
dont think so support is what the box industries is about and the other 2 are well lagging behind

yes true but why pay extra for a box that does exactly the same thing and if they did go down look at the extra expense for that box its not as if it gives you any more channels than any other box

Yes but would make no odds when we hit N3 so the starview USB is the way to go me thinks and as said cheaper than the kryptview.

cheeper by a £5.00 wow at least the support is there for the Kryptview people did not have to wait 4 MONTHS on a fix it was ready to roll when it changed over to N2 i would pay the extra for the support anyday. if it meant i would not have a blank screen

As already said the support wont mean when N3 hits unless your saying that kryptview will be able to get round this lol, but you are entitled your opinion but mine is to go with the starview. ;)

as i have said wait till it happens as they are still sending out N2 crads and also there own pvr boxs cant handle n3 anyway so they will have to change them first and as far as i can see they moved to N2 to kill most of the boxs which they have done nearly
when it goes to N3 nobody knows and as people have said boxes would not work on N2 if i can remember back
i think Kryptview proved them all wrong with a fix straight away with no waiting around
and nobody knows whats out there as they are not going to show their hand before the cable company does

yep and for £5.00 you get a better supported box in the Kryptview so which is the better the one with the support first time every time or one you have to wait for up to 4 MONTHS for a fix for

I was told that i could get a satellite tuner for my Itgate box to turn it into a sat box instead of dvb-c, surely having that option when n3 comes out is worth paying a bit extra?

yes and then the extra cost of installing a sat dish as well and more cost to buy a tuner
5 weeks will have any cable box paid for and with the extra £40.00 been added to the other box even more of an outlay

I'm aware that you have to buy a satellite dish etc., but when n3 comes out a lot of people might be moving in that direction.
And it really depends on what you watch, if you aren't interested in the sports channels and already pay for digital, it takes a lot longer than that to get your money's worth. Plus most of the football etc is over now for the next few months isn't it?

im sure it is in this recession we are in i think people want to pay as little as possible to get tv and not keep adding to their cost by buying that box and then having to change tuners in them as well most people would not be able to do that bad enough trying to talk them into flashing their boxes without having to start taking their boxes apart

Who's arguing? All we are doing is debating the merits of the different options available to people.
Aren't that what forums are all about, everyone expressing their opinion?
And it would be pretty boring if all you were to see were pages and pages of the same posts over and over again recommending the same box, what would you learn that way?

All the more reason to stick with the starview, a fiver is a fiver when all said and done :).
I also have to agree with eva on the benefits on being able to add a sat tuner to the itgate if needed, ok yes they will have to buy satellite dish etc but its better than buying a complete new box, at least the option is available to change at a later date, either way were not going to agree on it, we also dont have motive to promote these recievers like you do ;). Shall we leave it there now and get back to the topic of Eurovox as per title of this thread.

yes totally agree with you there all right and yes with the Kryptview there new and their previous box has been updated to N2 unlike the rest of the starview boxes so anyone that has the starview 1 or the TheBox2 or the Super3 are going to be left without a fix
so what does that say about support for the starview at least with the Kryptview people did not have to buy that had older ones just update the firmware and away they went

I fully agree with you fergus the fact the starview have developed a fix for N2 and only released it for the Starview 4 is really bad form and on a matter of principle I would never buy anything from them again. I think the Kryptview is worth an extra fiver all day long.

What i dont get about all this fighting over boxes is, Yeah it took them one day. Well Done,Getting sick of hearing it too be honest, No Pun Intended, with all the other problems before all the fixes were out pretty much the same time.
But how do you know that next time they will have a fix??? starview or eurovox could be the first with a N3 fix and kryptview could take 4 months or longer, Not that theres a chance of a N3 fix, just an example..
You cant guarentee anything....

could be that krypt is a uk supported box and all the rest are out side of that hence they dont understand the way the encryption works that is why it takes them so much longer im pretty sure it wont be starview any way maybe none of them but sure who knows

Guys I need help,
sorry if it's been mentioned before-but I've trawled evrywhere and can't find anything.
I am trying to re flash my EVpvr5000 with the 24-02-09 version.
I have indentified the COM PORT and changed it from 8 to 1 (on device manager). PORT 1 is free. Plus you only get a choice on 1 to 4 on your UFL.
When I click download the next screen says COM1 then COM2 then COM3 and back to COM1 and so on....it does this for a few seconds then the START botton is ready to press. I press this and change the COM port setting to 1, then click start.....then i get "waiting for the response of your receiver". nothing happens
I've tried switching on my EV...but no change.
Do you think it is a connection problem?
Or am I doing something obviously wrong
I have flashed a couple of times and read hitecks instructions
please advise or point me to another link
many many thanks for the good work
PS I still have the 1.0 ST4 Oct 28 2008 version on system info. Could i still use this ?????
