starview 6 with no display/ signal to tv

hi all i have a starview 6 box that was working fine until last night it just stopped working. when its turned on with swith on the back it just makes the tv screen flicker then tv says no signal. i have tried my sv 5 box and that works fine so its deffianatly a problem with the box i think it may have overheated but not sure. anyway is there anyone out there that knows where i can get parts from or a new mainboard. thanks in advance lee

hello all,
I think i have messed up big time. I have up loaded carling 1st. grooverider wont up load. My missus is breaking my balls and a divorce is on the cards! is it possible to overcome this problem in any way? can i remove carling?

what version carling did you load?
also did you try the guinness 'not the drink' the file, yes it works in the uk aswell!!
edit factory reset and load "just the guinness" no need for any other
also did you follow the guide on here
do you have your broadband connected
did you sort out the menu ect.........

i believe it was carling 1.0
i am just trying the guiness file. it uploads but the relevant stream wont connect

Do a factory reset then load this file>>>>> HERE<<<<< Do another factory reset, then follow this guide>>>>>HERE<<<<< Last, Do check-list below
1. cable is connected
2. lan (broadband) is connected
3. you presed 8989 on accessory and made sure everything is on/autoupdate.ect..
4. Menu - Option -networks - net application - Ustream
5. menu - options - osd setup - region, england
6. menu - options - network - ip setup, auto (ip address should be seen)
leave on movies/sports for 10 min and see if any channels have cleared

the box i have is the HD combo +, the guide you sent doesnt relate to the box I have. I think I may be misleading you.

Thanks for your help Hooter, I will contact Martin that offers to reset the box. my laptop does not provide the port for the 9 pin cable. This whole thing is certainly a lot more complicated than the old school boxes!

his shop is closed down!!
can you see your "mac address" in the menu
or is it greyed out, like as if you cant change anything on it

Hello,
I will have a look at the mac address tonight. Is there a solution available if it is greyed out or not?
I have ordered a usb serial converter, so should be with me over the next few days. Can you advise on where to get the HD300N_SC_RS232_1.bin file? How long will this process take as I will need to borrow someone's pc?

can you see the numbers on it when broadband is connected
or can you insert them manualy if you needed (do not try)
if yes then you disconnect broadband, and just need to flash your box with correct software and do a factory reset, scan in the channels, connect your broadband

my broadband lead is connected. the light on the back of the box is amber, not green. I have a mac address finishing D9. in manual it is purple. all other fields are 000.000.000.000.

the back of your box should be green/flash green when lan cable is connected
when its on automatic does the whole lot fill up
example>>>>
ip add 192.165.1.68
subnet mask 255.255.192.0
default gateway 192......ect.ect

yep thats the way it should be flashing green every couple of sec
now all you have to do is get the proper software on your box
you can do that with your usb stick and follow the guide i put in the links on post no#9
make sure you do a factory reset after you put the firmware on box before scanning in for channels

have actioned the instructions in no#9 twice, but i still cant get it working. it is still showing not connected to ustre. it will only show as connecting if moved to istre position.
