@modee420 cable is for your pipe tv to work and broadband for your internet to work
you need both for the starview.6
Hi Hooter @ the moment i have only the internet connection for my starview 4 i have used a splitter for 1 of the wires to go to the starview box, will that be enough for the A780 and the SV6

you dont use the internet for the starview you use normal cable
but as long as you have a modem/router that has a lan connection in it, you can connect your lan cable in that and then to your box

My only fear is if the box is connected to the modem/router will the ip address be traceable

I have recently bought a SV6 and am missing channel 4 +1 and a few others. The channels appear to be all over the place as well not in order like the SV5. I live in South Wales on VM.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
Thanks

In actual fact Hooter it wouldn't be difficult for the ISP (of both cable & TV) to identify the IP address of the servers & do some simple throttling etc... They may go after the server IP itself rather than the individual customer but it wouldn't be difficult for them.
For complete peace of mind better to have seperate ISP & cable TV provider. Just my tuppenceworth.

they cant go after what they cant find you dont honestly think they use a server within the uk or irelands jurastication give them some credit also they cannot come after the customer either as how would that look i court with the privacy laws they cannot just bring you to court because you are connected to an ip address

thats why throttling the server of choice would be a way to go

if that is the way you are looking at it you are all best off taking a sub out and forget about buying boxes that way you wont have that worry
There has been C/s going thru with satalite for god knows how many years and that has not been a problem so why should this be any different buy airing all this on here you are actually giving them ammunition to use do you not think ??

Ah I don't think from my comment re: throttling that any ISP can take anything from it that they didn't already know. They're already doing it according to other sources so I would be careful what I divulge on an open forum but don't think above comment can reveal anything new...
I've no concerns re: c/s - my post was simply to clarify a previous poster.
No foul as far as I can see.
Maybe a warning but deffinately not a yellow ref!!! :-)

I seem to have it set-up okay, the channels are scanned, however when I leave it on a non FTA channel it just says 'scramble' and it stays like that.
I have started the procedure from the beginning and it occassionally comes on, then it goes off.
Please help if you can, this is what I have.
Internet cable from n*l wall box (screwable)into splitter and 1 to back of modem, the other screwable cable from splitter to st6 box, internet cable from modem to the back of the st6 box and usb in back of machine.
