Aladdin Chip Problem.

Well I was wondering how you would be to disable the Aladdin modchip in order to play online? I look on the site and it says you have to just hit the power button and it disables it? And to enable it you just have to hold it for 5 seconds.

Well I got all that but I need to know if you do this while the xbox is already on, or when turning on your xbox.
