ok I put my pioneer 107D DVD+-RW Drive in an external encloser through usb 2.0 (made by Bytecc). It seems to work fine except when burning dvd's. i am trying to make a copy of a dvd and it gives me an error.
It says :
SCSI command aborted

It basically burns 1% and makes the blank unusable again??

thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,

It appears there's some sort of problem communicating to your drive.

Are all of the connections seated properly?

Are your USB drivers up to date?

Does your PC support USB 2.0?

What software and methods are you using to burn DVDs?

Hi,

Do you have access to a different PC with which you could test the drive in? This could verify if it's the drive/casing or your PC :)

Hi, I have the same problem...seams to be generic as I have been seraching and found many people with the same problem and we all have different burners. I have the SONY DVD RW DRU-510A Writer.

Here is a log file from Nero...I have cut out a lot of it as I assume most of it is irrelavant

------------------------------------------------------

I am also using a laptop with external USB2. I think makes are irrelavant as this problem is happening more often.

I have read to use the ForceASPI, this does not help.

I have read to update the USB Drivers through windows update, but it is not available to be installed when I try to do so.

I have used Pinncale studio 9 to burn a video dvd - This did work, but it was only at 1x ... and it was the compilation of ahome videos.

I have tried with both data and video using Nero, Alcohol 120% and Veritas software, but all fail, either in the beginning or near the end.

Has anyone solved this?

ThanX in advance for any replies!

I have the same problem with external burner connected by USB2.0 (USB1.1 is fine!).

I saw many posts on the web saying that dvd+r disks are ok, and the problems only happens with DVD-R.
I don't have any DVD+R disks at home right now. I will try them later.

my dru510a has had the same problem.. i don't understand why it would work for so long with the same media then just stop.. the common thread seems to be the "queue again later" that all the logs have:
