I have a modded PS2. My PS1 backups work on it, but the PS2 backups don't work on it. What do you think the problem is?

it's Magic V chip mounted on my PS2, SCPH-30001R, V5. And I bought the mod chip from a reputable company and the chip should have been fine (unless there were reasons to think otherwise)

I'm using my Pioneer DVR-A07XLB DVD Burner. I use Ritek G04 DVD-R, @ 1X speed. And I have used both Alcohol 120% as well as DVD Decrypter, but get the same result.

I have tried making copies of Tekken 4, Pride FC, as well as UFC Sudden Impact (all DVD based PS2 games). These games are all below 4 Gig's, so the DVD Decrypter should have worked... What do you think?

do you think it is the burning problem or do you think it is the modchip problem (or installation)?

How about CD based PS2 backups? Also, do DVD movies or DVD originals work and if so, what mode(s) do you have to put the chip into to get them to work?
PS2 - v8
Mod - Magic V
Burner - CenDyne (Pioneer) DVR-A05
Media - Anything Cheap
Gamecube w/Broadband Adapter
Phantasy Star Online
Animal Crossing Loader v1.4
Phantasy Star Uploader v1.1
Gamecube ISO Ripping Server v1.0.0.29

CD based PS2 games don't work.
Both original DVD movies as well as backup DVD movies do work.
As far as the movies are concerned, I just put them in, press reset (w/out putting it in the sleep mode). And then it works fine.
What do you think the problem is?

Either the contacts from the mod to the BIOS are having an issue or your CD reader is going out. Do PS2 original CD games work? I don't thing you specified that.

Check the 'R' contact. It's the most sensitive and easiest to mess up. It must be routed with a wire as short as possible and away from any other wires otherwise the chip's timing will be off causing it not to boot PS2 backups correctly.

Thank you Icemonkey for the advice...I'll look into it.
BTW, I guess that is why when I put in a PS2 backup disc, all it does is show the red screen that says to put in a PS1 or PS2 disc, right?

bump...
Any takers on this? Are any of you guys familiar w/ contacts? I heard of a connection called SCEX also. I wasn't sure if anyone knows of it, for V5/V6 versions of the PS2. I heard that SCEX connections also cause problems too.

Also, I heard about problems regarding the DVD relay and alignment...anyone heard about this, and what did you do about it? Even if the modchip is correctly installed and the chip and the system is fine, if the relay inside the PS2 system is bad, or if the alignment is off, the PS2 backups don't work.
What d' ya think?
