hi i have a LG-GSA4081b dvd writer and im experiancing a major problem, im running xp home. the problem is that when i put a dvdr in the drive it spins and then when i openb nero and get the file i want to burn and press burn nero tells me "This disk is not writable" it says "Disk required for compilation dvd", "Disk type in recorder dvdr".
im confused as its supposed to write on a dvdr not dvd.

My best suggestion would be to try different media such as Ritek G04/05, Verbatim DataLifePlus, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Using good quality media will go a long ways towards a good burn :)
Could you run one of the Quasar discs through DVD Identifier and post the manufacturer ID for us?

i used DVD identifier on the Quasar DVD-R and it says "Not Present on Disk"... ive had trouble with some data write DVDrs. Do u think it might be the actual Drive or Disks. i first brought datawrite disks which only 15 worked out of 25 the rest jus keep spining in there and the pc dont recognise them.
