Since we all know that the key to using backups on your PS2 is that little security code located on the Magic Swap DVD disc...why then, can't someone simply rip the entire code, extract it, and then patch it into an ISO or MDS game file before burning?
It would eliminate modchips and slide cards forever because the backup would boot straight up.
So why can't someone do this? It seems more than possible if you knew what you were doing.

It is also that the "parts" needed are physically made as errors, best example I guess would be that they are like physical scratches (or whatever they are) not something "burned" in by a writer.

Originals are Pressed not Burned, when they are pressed they first make a glass mold by injection molding, then it is pressed into a circle piece of plastic (the disc itself) then coted in special coting which gives it a silver (or in sony's case a purply) die finish, thats basicly how its done... unless you want to buy a press you could possibly do it.. it wouldnt fit in ya bedroom though and you will need to take another morgage to pay it off LOL

Well, I guess that explains it lol.
So that's how they make the magic swaps? They use a "press" machine?

If thats the case then why can DVD movies be riped and then burned on to DVD-R disc and be played in a PS2 and most DVD players. WITHOUT THE NEED OF MOD CHIPS OR MAgic swap discs things????????

I'm going to assume because they don't have a code pressed into the disk. Any codes the disk has are obviously copied, otherwise it wouldn't work.

Yeah you can see the code i think, theres numbers mixed with letters and then theres a bar code just like DVDS, so there must be some way around it with out paying for rubbish money making crap

Yeah, dvd movies don't use bad sectors like ps2 discs do. they use css encryption, which is easily cracked. Just hope the movie companies dont take a page from sony's copy protections.

and if your talking about straight boot backups... its not efficient enough.. and even if a company did do it (i think some do) you'd still be buying it, and its illegal... so again, i would say its not efficient.

Am not 100% sure but is it not legal to make 1 and only 1 copy of a pice of software for back up purposes, and + i could not care if its illegal ;-)
