you can, its a pain to load dvd backups though. you need to load cd loader everytime.

sly_61019, could you please elaborate on how this could be accomplished (either here or in a pm)? I am very interested in backing up my games, and am not sure about using a mod-chip... (Soldering is not something I'm good at)

why don't you use the mem card exploit?, you can load the exploit disc with your cheat disc, then use the exploit to load dvd and cd backups.

if you follow the link in my sig' you will find guides on using the cheat disc, making and using the mem card exploit, and all the files to do it.

you will have to look through the guides as I am still in the process of making the site, and it's not rteally obvious as to what's what at the moment, but I will soon make it more noobie friendly

what is the purpose for the mem card exploit?
is it required for loading saves off of a burned game?

no, the memory card exploit just saves whatever program you want (gameshark, cd loader, etc.) on your memory card. you use a ps1 game to trigger the exploit and load whatever you put on the memory card.

you can't load anything on the memory card without some way to boot backups. you could probably do it with your gameshark. http://www.ps2ownz.com has info on how to put the swap magic cd on the mem card.

2. Power on your PS2

5. Swap AR/GS disc for an Original-TOC-DVD* and wait 10 seconds
6. Select "AR/GS Codes"
7. Highlight "Add new code" and press X to get to the next screen
8. Press X three times. You will see "Updating code list please wait" each time)
9. Press "Start" on controller
10. Select "Without codes", press X
11. Press X again, you will see "Updating code list please wait"
12. You will hear Original DVD stop spinning
13. You will have about 10 seconds to do the following 2 steps
14. Immediately after disc stops spinning open Flip Top or use Swipe/Slide Card to open PS2 tray
15. Close Flip top or Use Swipe/Slide Card to close PS2 tray then press X
16. Screen will change and game will now boot

If the dvd (2nd method) steps don't work for you, go to http://www.swapmagicfix.com and get cd loader. you can then load cd loader with the gameshark and then load your dvd backups.

** note ** if your version of gameshark autoejects the ps2 tray, this wont work.
