I recently purchased two DVD players, an Apex AD-1225, and an Apex AD-2500. THe AD-2500 is a newer player with more features, but both have played SVCD's, MPG and DVD discs alike with no problem. I recently obtained a 4.4gb dvd-r copy of Rocky 1. I burned it with DVD Shrink, and then tried it on the AD-2500. It worked fine, menus and everything. I then tried it on the AD-1225, and it said 'No Disc'. The movie is in PAL format, and I thought it might not work at all, but it did work on the AD-2500. My question is, is there a certain reason that its not working on the other AD-1225 player, besides the fact that its in PAL format, and is there anyway I can fix that...by maybe converting it to NTSC format. Thanks

wouldn't that be piracy? and also you did not burn with shrink. shrink is not burning software. it can recognize some burning programs and use those automatically if you set it up that way

Lovely attitude. A simple "Thanks anyway" would've sufficed.
An interesting point is that forum rules have recently been relaxed and I, knowing what you need to do, would've helped you out but in light of your rudeness to zippyd you're on your own as far as I'm concered.

Doesn't play that region? What region? If you backed up your disc correctly it should be region free. Or are you talking about PAL vs. NTSC?
s37d was technicly correct Shrink does not have its own burner. What are you using to burn Decrypter, Nero, etc.?

It's a PAL movie, but its strange, when I change the tv format in the DVD player's preferences menu over to PAL, the movie is played in black and white and blurry, but in NTSC, the video looks fine. Says the movie is PAL though. I'm not too sure how the regions work, or how theyre related to PAL and NTSC. All I know is that it works on my apex ad-2500 player and it doesn't work on my ad-1110w player.

s37d...
I do apoligize if my post offended you. when i responded i forgot about the new standards here at AD.
And in my own defense, even though i didn't answer your question, I did offer help in a clarification of your perceptions of shrink's abilities. Again i do apoligize, and hope that no ill feelings will continue.

Had you not been rude to soemone who just apologized to you I'd have given you a link to a thread where I explained what's going on with your player. Since you were, however, I'll just say that it's been explained and you can find it yourself if you search.

The only thing insightful about this post, is how rude and demanding you are. This is all done, because we want to help, nobody gets paid for this. You insulted somebody that tried to help, and even after he apologized, you still persist in being rude.
Now who's the moron!!

s37d- 2 senior members on your thread and you are complaining and being rude? You're lucky these guys are still on here even attempting to help you. I damn sure wouldn't be. Sorry this post is once again not an answer to your question, but your attitude warrants it.

I know what's wrong anyway, figured it out myself while you bozos were trying to act all high and mighty. The player, Apex AD-1110w, doesn't play these types of movies. Be them PAL or another region, it doesnt play them. The firmware on this player can't be upgraded to play the dvd either, so I have no way of solving this problem. noobs

hahaha yeah we're all noobs... yet you had to come to a forum to figure out how to work your DVD player. the point is, these people were willing to help so you would have figured it out sooner had you not been an ass about it.

Of course we're all noobs! Anyone who thinks they're not a complete novice at something that's discussed at Afterdawn is a fool. The difference is we don't insult each other while asking for help. But feel free to do that all you want, and I'll feel free to give you just as much help as I did today. Makes no difference to me either way.

I didn't say I wouldn't respond. I said you'll get just as much help in the future as you did on this post. Perhaps my response was immature (and this one certainly is), but I feel no more obligation to respond to you in a mature manner than I do my 4 year old. And of course comments like these:
Quote: yeah if you're not gonna help me then stfu...moron
Quote: figured it out myself while you bozos were trying to act all high and mighty
are the height of maturity. And let's not forget this classic response when someone apologized to you:
Quote: once again you waste what could have been an insightful post, neglecting to answer my question
Oh yeah, you're the guy I'm gonna take advice about maturity from.

Hiya Guys,
An interesting thread, I've been watching and waiting for the "BOOM" - has that been retired under the New Regime(tm)?
Anyways, a point to consider:
s37d's first postQuote: an Apex AD-1225, and an Apex AD-2500.
s37d's third postQuote: I researched the dvd player and it seems it doesnt play that region
s37d's fourth postQuote: All I know is that it works on my apex ad-2500 player and it doesn't work on my ad-1110w player.
Hmmmm...
So the ad-1225 has transformed itself into an ad-1110W,
was this before or after the research was done?
An interesting link:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=1915&Search=Searchcomments
Note the player supports DVD-R, no issue there,
Multisystem PAL/NTSC Convert, therefore no issue there,
and the region issue is a non-issue (DVD backup: no region).....
If he actually has an ad-1225, the same applies.
Now it is possible s37d has difficulty reading the label(s) on his DVD Player(s), but unlikely...
Hmmmm.....
*sniff-sniff*
horse?
dog?
*sniff* - Nah, I know what it is.....
Life is just more of the same:

does your source copy work on your 1110W? It's quite possible you copied a bad copy. also, what did you burn with? shrink doesn't burn. when i first started backups, i made some mistakes using copytodvd3 and my 1130 will play them but my 1110 won't.
