I personally use mainly Maxwell dvd+r for most of my backups, no problems from them! Have used Sony as well. Thinking about triing out Ritek since they would be cheaper to order online then buying from a chain store.

Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-R 4X MCC code (NOT the CMC rubbish).

I get them @ 32 U.K.Pounds for 50 (delivered), they are not cheap but the quality is unquestionable.

Life is just more of the same:

I have used Ritek G04 4x DVD-R for about six months now,Only had a couple of coasters which were caused by stupidity on my part,I personally would'nt go past them.I have tried other discs which turned out to be utter shite [Datawrite red] for one.

I have tried almost every make in my sony DRU-530a,Ritek are fine, Verbatim Datalife are almost guaraunteed to work in any drive. But im currently using these cheap infiniti ones with it, they are as good as any, (£6 for 25pk) cheap as chips.
are you going to make a graph?

Verbatim Printable (4x) DVD-R (ADVDINFO: .MCC 01..RG2) - Spindle Tubs of 50 = £26:50

Pack of 5 Verbatim (4x) Pastel Coloured DVD-R (With excellent Taiyo Yuden dye) in Slimline Jewel Cases
(ADVDINFO: .TYG..01.) - 5 pack = £2:75

Ritek Branded A Grade (4x) DVD-R (ADVDINFO: .RITEKG..04.) - pack of 50 = £19:48

I tend to use a lot of the purple [branded] Riteks , but the Taiyo Yuden blank discs are superb also.

P.S. Good to see you about on the forum(s) drchips :c)

I prefer ricohjpnr01. 1st: since this is dvd+r media, I can format these to dvd-rom w/ a bitsetting tool. 2nd: although these are coded at 4x they actually burn better at 8x. 3rd: lite-ons prefer +r media. 4th: not too costly (34 cents a disc last purchase). Just my two cents.

BeAll 4X -R from meritline. For some reason my Plex 708A just loves these things. I get much better burns on these than the Ritek G04s and TY's (I've burned 50 of each) as measured by Nero DVD-Speed/Kprobe on my Litey. If I reduce the burn speed to 2X, they are incredible. Go figure.

I guess time will tell how well they hold up...

Hi:

I've only used 3 different discs with my Plextor 708a. Beall's, Verbatim and Ritek. I have had great success with all 3. I stayed with the Verbatim Datalife +r 8x but they are very pricey (about $75 for 50 spindle.)

I am now exclusively using Ritek -r and +r's inkjet whites and they are awesome. Plus they are almost 1/3 the price of the Verbatims ( about $58 for 100 spindle.) Only thing is that they dont print down to the hub but their surface is shinier than the Verbatims so the label actually comes out a little better. Regards...

{looking around cautiously} - I've also had very good luck with a brand called Radius ... I'm not sure where to get 'em ... they were supplied {hee hee hee}, to me by a place I worked at years ago ... we had to use discs that specified Japanese Standard ... whatever the hell that means ...

I have an LG GSA-4120B and you can't go wrong with any high end media such as Ritek or Maxell. No costers out of any of those for me.
