I have a movie which was in 2 parts (mpeg files) i used WinAvi (i know its commercial-it works great for converting) to convert to DVD (.VOB) which resulted in 2 folders Disk_0 with a total of 4 .VOB files...I am using DVDLab to author the movie..I was succesful but each time the movie reaches the end of the file it jumps back to the menu (annoying) is there a way to either combine the files all in one or can i do something in DVDLab to make the movie play continuous with jumping back to the menu all the time. (i would love a guide to do this if there is one) I have the beginners guide to DVDLab already, but need help with above. Thank you in advance

It's simple, you "connect" the end of the first part,
with the start of the second part, in the "connections" window, (make your cursor to draw connections, by selecting this tru right click)
and this you repeat as many you need this.

thank you for the input fugitive2, i will give this a shot..I am really new to DVDLab only been using it for about 3 days, do you know of a guide that is a little more indepth than the begginner guide? That shows and explains these type of options, that would be great. I really appreciate your help.

I guess www.dvdrhelp.com has it all,
but just try some things with DVDLab yourself,
it isn't that hard, import your mpeg files, as assets,
by clicking on the yellow map, down > left , and these
files will appear in the lower window, if there's
demuxing needed, this will dvdlab handle.
once done, you can drag the video and sound files into
the film frame of the "connections" window.
you double klick the film frame, and select in the "menu"
option of the pulldown menu the option to make chapters,
double click the the menu icon/frame in the connections
window, drag a background into it, from any source,
drag a button also in it, right-click on it, to make a
link to the 00:00:00 start of the film,
then compile a dvd project from this, dvdlab itself
has a good help function, the site of it has also some
great examples, try it, you'll find it easy to create some good results !

Bedankt, Thanks,

thanks for the advice, since my last post i was able to kinda stumble through it and figure it out for myself, i just needed to add links from the first movie file to the next and so forth, took me a minute but i was able to get it to work. I got this from your 1st response so thank you VERY much. Now its time to really have fun with the program and get CREATIVE with the menus and such....anyway I really do appreciate you help again...

That's alright, DVDLab i use for all my authoring,
and you can learn some thing all the time by bits and
pieces, if you want to create your own "objects" like
buttons, etc. you can use the already existing ones
in DVDLab as template, that's handy for the "key"
or transperant colors, be sure you save them back
with the same palet and file format/extension.
this way you can use your favourite drawing util.
Keep in mind, that you can also save a project
or part of it as a template, this saves you work
next time, if you want the same "look" for series
of discs.

Bedankt, Thanks,

Fugitive.

Hi there,

I have a movie which came in 3 video files which WinAVI split into 6 Vobs.

I linked the vobs to connect the movie, but when I watched the DVD Movie it jumped at the points where one vob goes to the next.

Why is this happening? Can this jump be avoided?
I Merged all the vobs and imported it in DVDlab, but it said something about "High BitRate" and it did jump in my DVD player.

I have now posted this problem in a thread I think it is better explained there:

That's a problem... if you have different bit/compression rates..:(
A solution would be... transcode back to AVI,
but encoding it again would cause again quality loss
Dont know if you have TMPGEncDVDAuthor, but then you
could try to drag them all in the one box, so not
making seperate clips, but i guess your different bit
rate problem bothers you again, but try it,
This problem you're having is normal and should be
avoided as much is possible, maybe try a search on
www.videohelp.com , if it's possible.. you will find
it there, otherwise only expensive transcode software
will do the job, but in any case you will loose quality....

Bedankt, Thanks,

Fugitive.
