Does Pioneer DVR-A08XL and DVR-108 different in performance and noise level?

Pioneer said they are the same thing, but has anyone actually test any different in performace

Also in the retail drive, "QuietDrive features a honeycomb design in the unit's top outer casing that reduces vibration from the drive mechanism"
does it really worth the extra dollar to buy the retail drive, if just consider the drive itself not software?

As I understand it they're both physically identical with the only diffrence being that one comes with software/cables/etc and the other doesn't :)

so does the a07 really have a big difference compare to the new A08 model?

since the current market still only have 8x media

Also is it possible to update the A07 firmware to A08?
