xvid files not playing!!!

i downloaded xvid files but it doesn't play on my pc, i've played them on divx player, microsoft media player and windvd,i sent the file through g-spot and that tells me the video and audio are supported on my pc where codec are concerned, does anyone know why these xvid files are not playing?

Hi you probably haven't got the right codecs for the xvid file I had this and G-spot said I had them have you got the ~Xivd mpeg 4 codec I just download quite a few from afterdawn and it was fine then
