Hi guys
I have lots of short mpegs which i want to go onto one dvd disc.. I have done this successfully by adding mpeg files to a data disc dvd in nero.. all came out fine on my dvd player... but after reading all the posts here..i'm thinking was that fluke..? i had no audio problems.. Was i just lucky that I burnt mpeg 1 or 2s on the right format.. which one do need mpeg 1 or 2 if i dont want to worry about encoding either picture or audio.. Hope this makes vague sense.. Thanx loads in advance

Well after trawling every vcd/dvd forums and sites it appears its all to do with they dvd player you have.. I have a DVD 55 cambridge from richer and i swear it would have a go at playing a beer mat.. Anyhows.. as long as the file ends in mpg/mpeg (and isnt therefore a divx or other AVI - if it is bang it through winavi best converter imho - does any format and is loads quicker.. just remeber to uncheck the 'split output files to fir on one disc) then it can be burnt as a dvd data disc and be fine audio and visually - if you have this particular player.. worth the effort as i got 5 whole movies on this way :0) - Now to work out whether i have saved money (or just valuable move from the sofa effort) as dvd disc are still more expensive than 5 cds..
I'm glad i had a bash at this as all the ripping the audio off and reencoding with at least 3 different apps would have been a right PITA!! Hope your works too xxxx

So can someone tell me how you would go about burning a couple of mpgs to a dvd for a dvd player to read using Nero? Thanks.

If you want to use Nero you should use the Recode functionality. Its an addon to Nero. That program can create a dvd movie with menu from different mpg files (both mpeg1 and mpeg2).

But I would recommend TMPGEnc dvd author instead to create dvds out of different mpg files. Works like a charm.

Cheers! Nikolai

Nist and anyone interested..
The whole point is depending on what dvd payer you have you dont have to re-encode mpegs...
Open Nero (not express) choose dvd dusc over cd.. click on data disc and whack all your mpegs(ie VCD or svcd) over to the dvd to burn... need to test if your dvd palyer plays mpegs before wasting many discs...
Hope it helps..

Normally vcd/Svcd is on a cd disc. I guess some players also can read vcd/svcd from a dvd disc, and some not.
(Some players can read MP3 from dvd and some not.)

Check here, http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
to see if your player supports SVCD.

Now it's possible to buy divx-player who handels subs for 100 dollar in Sweden. Centrum Gemini 340.
