explorer 8000 to DV tape.

I?m trying to burn my previously burned movies from my explorer 8000 cable box to my DV camera tape. My problem is while I get a nice picture there is no sound, why? I?m running the RCA cables from the Ex 8 k to the input on the DV camera. Any ideas?
