Rip with DVD Decrypter first in file mode. Then open the file with Shrink and use Shrink to compress it.

Open Decrypter -> click mode -> File F

Hey I just copied punisher and I can get it to work. However it is very choppy and slow. I can view most of it fine if I try to use Real Player. But the last few scene's play with commentary. I don't really know how to get rid of the commentary, but At least I can watch it this way.

Hi guys?newbie here using shrink and Nero. I had the exact problem with Punisher as mentioned above. I followed the suggestion and changed the setting in the ?unreferenced material? section to ?still image?. Worked perfectly! Then I tried another new dvd named Secret Window. It would encode up to 97% then it crapped-out after that and gave an error about copy protection. I tried changing the setting as with the Punisher disc, and that kept it from crashing out after 97%. I was able to backup the disc and it works in my rca dvd player, but it WILL NOT play on my computer. Any ideas why it does that or how I can keep it from crashing after 97% without changing the setting to ?Still Image?? Jim

I'm having the prob with Punisher too. I just get the kid jumping at the beginning and that's all it gets to. The disk plays fine on a stand alone or on the computer with power dvd, but can't watch it with DVD Shrink. I've tried all the ideas, changing the unreferenced to still image and unchecking Nero. Nothing helps. I know I can just reauthor and do the movie only. I just want to be able to do the whole thing since other people can. I've tried with shrink 3.2 and 3.1.

I also had no problem with this movie using decrypter in file mode>shrink to compress and encode>nero v.63125. However I did incur Nero verification errors as shown in my Nero log file. It presents with a sense key error(KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) an error during reading various sectors and a read error on cd file. Is this cause for concern as I want to eliminate any and all possible errors in the future. As this is my first dvd burn with the above mentioned combo. DMA is active on IDE channels and I will check for updates.Joilet is false?Any information will be appreciated..Thanks crew.

Think I figured this one out folks... I found a few DVD's with the "unreferenced material" section, and it seems the ones that I have trouble with are ones with a certain frame sequence in it. It starts with a sunrise, and then has fades real quick to a skinny white dude in track shorts jumping in the air, pre fontain style. For instance, on along came polly, the unreferenced material is mainly previews, but there is one chapter in that VTS set that is a 1 MB clip of this same sequence. Kill that 1 MB sequence, and no more problems. Doesn't matter what you use to rip or shrink em, but it seems that most recoders (nero or dvdshrink, or dvd2one) can't seem to process that scene. If you just kill that one scene, you can save the rest of the unref'ed material, such as previews. So, before you burn your DVDs, just check the unrefed material for that scene. Hope this helps.

That info about the 1MB sequence is worth looking into.

I just got Punisher to work, after doing a search on Google, it appears everyone was having probs with it.

It WORKS with DVD Shrink 3.17

I ended up installing a parallel install of DVD Shrink for these problematic discs.

Hello, im having problems with the Van Helsing DVD also, what happens is that in the video quality i noticed that there are "small digital blocks" on the image. Like lets say for the cgi shots, the cgi when it moves, there are small digital squares in the shot. I checked on 'Enable overlapping', 'read 32bk blocks...' and i also used "maximum smoothness, "sharp (default)" and it still looks the same.

Can someone please tell me how to fix the small digital squares that appear in the picture.

Thank you.

Hi
I too have noticed that the scene with the guy in the green shorts causing problems copying discs. But I'm wondering, how do you "kill" just that one scene and keep the rest of the disc wo using reauthor mode? What do you mean by "kill" it? Thanks!
