First, a big "thanks" to the guide's author. It's easily the best (and simplest!) AVI to DVD "how to" I've found online.

I don't encounter any problems with the instructions until I get to the bitrate section of TMPG. I want to convert a 700 MB avi to DVD. The file is 576 pixels wide by 256 pixels high and runs at 25 fps and has MPEG layer-3 audio. With the video resolution set at 720 x 576, and the audio bitrate at 384, I can't get the "% of disk capacity" setting to go below 117.13 (the problem persists even when I change the resolution to 352 x 576). This leaves me with an estimated file size of 4919 MB, and an average video bitrate of 2000.

What am I doing wrong?
