I've been comparing the Canopus ADVC-100 vs ADVC-110 and the diferences in specifications are resumed to this :

================
Canopus ADVC-100
================

Looks :
> Black Box

Video Formats:
>dosn't accept SECAM video

Audio Formats:
> 2-channel 48kHz 16-bit
> 4-channel 32kHz 12-bit (input for two channels only)

Digital Video Input/Output:
> FireWire at 200Mbps

Analog Video Input:
> 2 x S-Video (7-pin miniDIN)

Analog Audio Input (unbalanced):
> 1 x 3.5mm stereo phono

Power Usage:
> 5.5W

================
Canopus ADVC-110
================

Looks:
> White Box

Video Formats:
>accepts SECAM video (input only)

Audio Formats:
> 2-channel 48kHz 16-bit
> 2-channel 32kHz 12-bit

Digital Video Input/Output:
> FireWire at 100Mbps

Analog Video Input:
> 1 x S-Video (7-pin miniDIN)

Power Usage:
> 4.5W

ADVC-110 can run only on the power supplied by the firewire.
For me this is an disadvantage because if you want to connect it to an Laptop with only a 4 pin firewire port it will not work because power by firewire is only sent in the 6 pin firewire ports.

As for the Macromedia "Tweak" the ADVC-110 dosn't seens to have it.

Are there any other diferences between those two models ?

I personal prefer the ADVC-100 model and I dont see the propose of Canopus to have produced the ADVC-110 ...

What do you think ?

I think it would be better to just get the "Canopus ACEDVio" as it has most of the same Features of the ADVC-100 but it is an Internal PCI card and is about $50-$100 Cheaper and produces the same quality Captures....

Minion, the advc-100 looks better to me because it has video/audio analog output and isn't PCI dependent as the ACEDVio .... because the standard PCI sockets are going to be replace with the new PCI Express sockets ! In middle 2005 the normal PCI will be dead !

So bying at this time a normal PCI card is a bad deal ! At least to me, because I am always upgrading my boards. he he

PCI Express is 100% Backwords Compatible with all versions of PCI so No PCI will not be Dead and the PCI 2.2 specification will still be used for lower Bandwidth PCI Devices....

You can Get PCI Express Boards Right now, I am actually Building a P-4 Socket 775 System for a Customer at the Moment which has 4 PCI Express slots on it and the Regular PCI Devices work Just Fine in PCI Express Slots..

The ACEDVio also has Analogue Outputs so you can hook up a Interlaced TV set to get a Better Idea of what the Video will look like when Played on TV...

You will still have to pay at least $225 no matter were you go as the ADVC-100/110 is a pretty expensive Device....
You might want to check out other Analogue/Digital Converters that Canopus Makes that are less expensive Like the ADVC-50 or ADVC-55 as I have seen the ADVC-50 for as Low as $99 on Ebay and the ADVC-50 has very simular features to the ADVC-100 accept that it is Internal...
Or you Might want to check out the "Canopus ACEDVio" which is a PCI Card that uses the same Hardware DV Encoder Chip as the ADVC-100 , it is Internal and needs no Drivers to Install and has the same audio lock Feature to keep Audio/Video Sync that the ADVC-100 has and it is about $100 Cheaper than the ADVC-100....

Cheers
