From what I can glean from various sources, in order to burn a dual layer DVD, one apparently needs a DVD burner with dual layer burning capabilities. (Correct me if I'm wrong about this).

My question is...what about playing dual layer DVD's. Does playing DVD DL+R also require special players, or can my can my existing NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A burner play dual layer DVD's?

Thanks.

Your burner should be able to play DVD-9 Movies. Try it

Thanks Car.Mike for your response.

So you're saying my NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A burner can play DVD-9 (single-sided dual-layer) discs. But my burner cannot burn a DVD-9 disc, is that right?

Thanks again.

Amadeus74 has Nephilim this is correct.Next time you put one of your original dvd's in your NEC to watch.
Check out the size of the disk if it is over 4.38gb then your watching a duel layer.
