Hi guys, I have backed up around 50 dvd's perfectly fine up until the other day!!
The problem started after I tried to make a back up of a music cd which I had never tried, I left the comp do its thing while I went to bed, however upon return next day the comp had taken 14 hours to complete task, but had also failed to make a successful backup due to some kind of error.
Since then when using dvd shrink the computer is just so slow in comparison.
While encoding it says the rate is around 650kb, I dont seem to remember it being this low.
What has happened, someone please help!! :-(

AMD Athlon 1800, 512Mb Ram, o.s Windows ME, DVD shrink 3.2

What is the "Current Transfer Mode" set to?

DMA mode is not ticked in the settings, there is no box to select PIO.

Also had an error message saying something about an i/o overlap??

Whats going on and what should I do to stop it happening?

Is it because DMA isn't selected?

Better to set them for DMA if they are supported............

If you can set them to DMA, then do so.............

File transfers and data rates increase BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I backed up a DVD last week and encoding took about 15mins. When I went to backup the same DVD last night, the encoding part took over an hour. I checked the DMA settings and defragged...what else could cause the encoding to take longer this time around? Also, do the encoding/burn times differ if you are using Decryptor instead of Nero after you use Shrink (different file types)?
