Hi!

You can do on many ways:
1) If your PS2 supports PAL, you should use DVDDecrypter. It can change region code to 0. Of course, not having a dual-layer DVD writer you won't be able to write it to disc.
2) Reconvert the DVDs. Many applications are available, I use DVD2DVD from www.DVD2DVD.org, but DVDrebuilder is also a good choice.

See my AVI2DVD guide: NTSC2PAL in even 2 hours! http://manngo.fw.hu/avi2dvd

Thee is a disk you can buy for about a tenner called DVDX which allows you to boot up the PS into any region, have never had any problems with mine

On the same subject, I have a region1 rare DVD I want backing up. Is there something I can use on the PC to get it to copy in my region2 DVD Writer?

DVD Shrink gives you the option of making your backups region free if you choose.

Bumps welcome (sorry accidently hit enter 2 times)

There are a few things we need to know
1st what format are your movies in (avi, mpeg ext)

they need to be converted to either
mpeg or DVD format

then you can use nero

or you can even use something like
TMPGEnc DVD author or DVDLab and add menus and chapters

but knowing what your file type are would really help everyone here answer ur questions

the more detailed your question the better
answers you'll get (just FYI 4 ya)

I had so many problems with Nero 6 I dumped it and use copytoDVD, only costs $40 for a ligitimate copy.

Download dvdshrink, its free and easy to use. With this you can rip your movie to hard disk, shrink it to fit on a domestic blank DVD and it rips out region coding. I find it a lot easier to shrink the whole film rather than just the main film, no messing about with settings that way.

CopytoDVD is a one click copy programme, start it up, click on make dvd video, browse the folder with the backup files, there will be an audio and a video folder. Open the video folder and click on the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, and sit back while your film backs up, its as easy as that.

I have many Region 2 dvds and travel with my son to the US. I need to copy my R2 dvds so that they play on a R1 dvd player connected only to a TV.

I have tried dvdFab with CSS region free. Does not work. The DVD player shows error "prohibited due to area use restrictions."

I got dvdshrink and InfoEdit095. Running infoedit said there was no region restriction in the dvd files I had ripped to the HD.

I then copied the DVD from the hd to a dvd-r. Same error appeared on DVD Player.

Can someone help me (with instructions for a newbie). Otherwise I have to let my 18 month old use my laptop (set to r2) and I cannot get any work done.

Thanks
