Burning dvd unsuccessfully

I am having a problem with burning a dvd. I use dvd shrink 3.17. Using Nero 6 to burn. I have a Pentium III 868mhz 368 MB ram. 74.5GB 62.5 GB free. I was having no problem but out of the blue won't work. It shinks than goes to nero and says it is burning . Than says it successfully burned but the disc won't work. It says it is the wrong format. What do I do?? Also I would like to know why my it takes so long to shrink. It usually will take 2 to 21/2 hrs. to shrink. I noticed the kbs are only going up to 700. My sister uses the same programs and the kbs on hers are anywhere from 1000 to 1700. Whats up with this???Help!!!!

You could take Nero completely out of the equation. If you set the output to "Iso image" you could burn that file with DVD Decrypter ("Mode --- IFO --- Write)

I think with your spec of machine, the processing times are probably quite accurate. A faster system means faster transcoding time.

If the problem happened out of the blue then you probably lost the DMA setting on the DVD or hard drive.
Go to the hardware monitor in system and check the advanced properties of both you IDE controllers. If you see pio on any devices you'll have to uninstall the device then restart the system.

Thanks for everyone's help. I checked my IDE controllers and they didn't have pio beside them, so I assume they are ok.
I took Brian's advice and downloaded DVD Decrypter. With the help of Scuba Pete. I followed his explicit instructions from an earlier posting and it worked like a charm. There must be a problem with my Nero 6. For some reason it won't recognize and discs to burn except for DVD+R, but DVD Decrypter recognized all the dvd's. Tell me something does Dvd-r or Dvd+r burn faster???? Thanks again for the help.

+R or -R will make no difference on burn speeds but rather what the media is rated at, 4x,8x,12x, etc.

Just a quickie. Please remember that burning faster can also lead to problems. I never burn faster than 2X..

Totally agree brian, altho i do burn at 4x, but no more, besides 8x or higher media is also higher in cost!

I am about to switch to 8x media because the price difference is so small now. Prodisc and Ritek are about 5 cents more a disc for 8x.
I hate to change what works but I would like to use my 8x drives more often. I can burn 8x with the 4x disc but I'm always concerned about quality so most of the time I do 4x.

I can actually burn at 12x but I see too many stories of error due to high burn speeds.. 10 minutes doesn't mean that much to me, so I'll stick at 4x. Actually once I had to slow the burn down to 2x in order to get a good burn.
Also I buy media 200 at a time when it's on sale and at a nickel or more per disc that's a pretty good savings. :>)

I am also of the opinion that 8x discs would be more reliable than 4x disc at any given speed from the same manufacturer.
I buckle under the thought of a nickel savings to.
Thats why I haven't done it yet. But at 42 cents a piece for printable 8x I'm having problems resisting.
