DVD burning software for Dynex

I installed a Dynex internal model DX DVDRW8 into my Dell 8200 Dell Dimensions yesterday replacing a Samsung CD/DVDrom in the top port of my tower. The second port has a CD RW installed. After fiddling around with host interface connections for the two, I called Dynex support who advised that I set the CD RW to master and the Dynex to slave. The two units that came with the computer were both set to cable select.

Anyway the Dynes seems to be working, will read discs copied from my Dell laptop DVD RW and from my Sony external.

My problem is that Roxio 5 says there is no DVD recorder on my maching. If I use the software Sonic/Record Now which came with the Sony DRX 530UL, the Dynex will record. Why does Roxio not find the Dynex?

I am so confused and have been fiddling around with this for two days. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
