dvd+r discs work on most newer models and even older models (my v3 has no probs readin them). It all depends on the the brand discs you use =)

Doesn't alot depend on what type of mod chip you use also. I have a V5, but am not sure what type of mod chip to get to read dvd+r.

Get a Matrix Infinity; you'll be glad you did! I had www.norcalmods.com install one on my system, and it was the best decision I ever made.

The Matrix Infinity chip is the easiest to use--it automatically recognizes and then boots whatever media you put in. I hope this helps your decision.

I use DVDX Copy to back up my DVD movies, and this software lets you play them on your PS2--regardless of what version you have or if you have a modchip installed. DVDX Copy is the best software to archive your movies on DVD.
