What kind of file are you trying to burn? What is the source file type?

angelluv,

Shrink will rip, edit, and compress files, but will not burn.

Decrypter will rip and burn, but will not edit and/or compress.

Soooo, you have to use a combo of the two to achieve your goal. That's the differences between shrink and decrypter.

Now, Out of memory could be several things,

1)how big is your hard drive?

2)are you using NTFS or FAT32?
(FAT32 only handles 4 gig files while NTFS can handle 10 g files)

Also:

Is this a downloaded file? They are not usually encrypted. Shrink uses dvd compliant files and if you have DL files you will have to convert them to DVD compliant files usually.

usually DL files only have to be burned as they don't need editing or compressing, they are already the correct size without extras or menus. Decrypter will only burn ISO files.

Sooo, to burn DL files you usually have to convert them and then burn to disc. Again, you will need another program, like TMPGEnc or NeroVisionExpress(NVE), etc.

is this starting to make sense?

(It's much easier to back up a dvd than to burn files from over the net, not to mention quality is way better.) ;>)

lol, see what i mean about DL files?

OK, I use NeroVisionExpress(NVE) to work with these files all the time. It will also let you create a menu and chapters for your movie.

It comes in the Nero Ultra 6 suite which is an excellent program to have btw. It has MANY video and audio apps dealing with backup, burning, cover design, toolkit, software player, photoshop, etc. You can use this for free every month for the ENTIRE month.. At the end of each month you must reload it until you decide to buy. You must DL update packs 1 & 2,do not load pack#3(InCD)it is packet writing that has been known to conflict with DVD backup. I would also get packs 4,5,and 6.

You can buy this for 59.00 and lots of times Nero will have 20-30.00 rebates which makes it a heck of a deal considering all it does and it normally costs 99.00!

If you decide to try NVE let me know and I will help you, I also have a quick guide i wrote for it that should walk you thru it using the Nero manuel which can also be found at the Nero homepage.

see ya! :)

Nero is a wonderful program, really program"s". The problems are usually the system or the operator,(no offense intended, lol). One thing, Nero does have problems if one has Roxio on their PC, but so do many other apps. Roxio is a very greedy app and doesn't like to share causing problems with many other programs. I always recommend removing it before installing Nero. You should even use this tool to remove it completely as it doesn't like to be taken out either and tends to leave remnants.

OK, Find it here:

Well, we have one thing going right for us anyway. Maybe that's a good sign.

Yes, I would uninstall and then you can do a clean install of Ultra 6. These downloads will take some time as they are large files. Be sure not to get pack #3, InCD. 1 and 2 are a must.

I would go ahead and get 4,5, and 6. If you don't care for any of the others you can always uninstall at the end of the month. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you need my quickie NVE guide let me know. :>)

angelluv,

OK, Here is a quickie NeroVision Express (NVE) guide I wrote, hope it helps.

Open NVE

Choose make DVD > DVD Video

click on add files on the right.

From the window browse to your files and add them one at a time, wait in between for NVE to do it's thing and when the file is finished add the next and so on til done.

If you wish to create chapters, click on each file one at a time after they have all been converted, and hit "create chapters" starting with the 1st then hit next and you can set your chapters manually, (which I do it's faster) or you can let NVE do it for you auto. There is a preview window, just slide the slider, note time on right and stop it, hit the set chapter button.

Go back and repeat this step for each file til done.

Note, you can also edit your files in the same manner(one at a time) by hitting "edit movie" then going back and repeating for each file. I very rarely find the need to do this on DL files as they are usually movie only.

Note-this could take another guide in itself for editing, I'm just giving you the basics. Most movie files don't need editing, unless they have commercials, etc.

Now it's time to create a menu. hit next and here you set your layout, backgrounds, buttons, text, font, colors, etc.

A very neat feature here, you can import backgrounds, video clips, pictures, etc. to incorporate in your menu. There are 3 little cameras for this import feature. Just left click on each for it's specific function.

Each heading on the right in this section is self explanatory, click on each one down the line, follow the cues until done.

Once your window is setup on the left you can right click on your buttons and select properties, go in and type titles, fonts, etc.

Hint- I like to go to movie sites and get video clips, backgrounds, posters, and photos for my custom menu. You will need to play around here til you get the hang of it, the manuel is a great aid.

When finished, hit next and you will see a software remote control. Use this as you would one from your living room chair at home and play with your movie. Go to different chapters, FF, rev., pause, etc. If you wish to change something you can still go back, if all is to your liking then hit next.

Set your parameters for burning, ie.-your burner, your HD, record settings, it's in the box at the top right.

When all is ready hit burn, go away, leave the PC alone, NO MULTITASKING !

When you return play your masterpiece you created!

*note- this is not intended as a complete step by step guide, but is a blueprint of sorts designed to give you steps to follow. NVE is more compicated than a simple burn guide. Use the NVE manuel which can be found at the Nero Homepage. You can download it, print it, or do as I do which is put all the Nero Ultra 6 manuel links in a folder which I can go to at any time and review.

If you use this guide with the manuel you will be fine, it is one of the simpler programs of this type.

I would also suggest using an RW til you get it right, then burn to a (+) or (-) R disc. Make sure you use quality media (like "branded" ritek or ridata 4x). Burn no higher than 4x, you may even want to do 2.4x.

Compare these steps to what you did, I would actually start over and go from step1 to finish. Let me know how it goes and if this doesn't do it, there are some things we can check with your system.

good luck.... :>)

LOL, yes you probably are. I know one thing you're doing wrong. You've got some of the crappiest media on the market. Get ritek G04 4x -R or ridata 4x +R and make sure they are branded. Meritline is a good place to order, under .50 each and they have free shipping!

Make sure your media is compatible with your burner. Also, make sure you're working in DVD and not CD in NVE, that would cause the error message if you put a DVD in your burner. It sounds like you're just about there. I take it the burn button is no longer greyed out in NVE?
