modded Playstation 2 can't read dvd-r

I need help solving a weird problem

I have a modded playstation 2

it worked fine for backup cd-r and backup dvd movies but whenever i put dvd backup it didnt recognize it and the "please insert playstation format disc" came out

the odd thing is i've tried to run chinese-pirated dvd games and it worked fine while dvd-backup that i burn myself didnt

i've used higher quality-media (Ritek DVD-R) and alcohol 120 %

any suggestion on what the problem is?

Oh my gosh kedip 182 I have the exact same problem!!! Can someone please help us!! v8 ps2, tried decrypter as well... (sorry kedip 182 hope u don mind me cutting in like this, but i thot we hav the same problems!)

How fast you burning? I had issues with Star Wars: Battlefront and 18 Wheeler, until I burned both at 1X and they read fine. I had sound problems on SWB, and 18 Wheeler (which was a CD-R).

for some reasons couldn't try at 1x my burner will just burn at 2.4x or 4x... u think thats why??
