Depends on your version of PS2. Newer PS2's seem to read chaper media better. For example: my v8 machine reads Princo 1x media fine but they do not work in my friend's v3 machine. If you're wondering if cheap media will work I'd suggest buying media sample packs off of online retailers and trying them out first before buying media in bulk.
