Is there any dvd media that will burn at 8X. I bought ridata 8x it will only burn at 4x. the 420i supposely burns at 8x but it only does with hp dvd media.Is there any cheaper brands that will work at 8x with my burner.

I have an HP 420i and the only media I have been able
to burn at 8x is Verbatim Datalife Plus rated at 8x. I
have Ritek 8x now and they will only burn at 4x even with
my updated firmware for my 420i.

Use DVD Identifier on the HP media to get the manufacturer ID then we can probably tell you who else uses the same media :)

CMC is one of the lowest grade media available and sure to give you problems especially when trying to burn at high speeds. You'd be well served to try some decent media such as Verbatim DataLifePlus, Taiyo Yuden, braded Ritek or Maxell.

I tried ritek but it only burned at 4x with my dvd burner. Is there any other media that will burn at 8x with my hp420i. Hp media is expensive.
