Has anyone experienced problems backing up Def Jam NY (PAL) for the PS2? Does it need a patch or anything?

DVD Decrypter @ the lowest speed that your DVDR media supports.

EA games no longer need patches with Swap Magic CD3.0/DVD2.0.
If the game is NTSC on a PAL machine it will work on a modded console or else using the swap method, but it won't display correctly on a PAL only TV. An NTSC game can be patched to make it PAL but it should work on a PAL machine if your TV supports NTSC.

However, if there is online play in some games then they might play cutscenes a little sluggishly when backed up. As when you back up an online game(you probably know yourself)you lose the DNAS ID. So sometimes using DISCid utility along with image patcher can solve some minor problems with online compatible backups.
