How do i play a downloaded movie on a standalone PC?

after downloading a MPEG movie i want to burn it to a dvd so i can watch it on a stand alone DVD player. but i have tired this and it does not work. is there a particular format?..i am using +/- dvds..Sony

What you need to do is to convert the movie file to VCD or dvd compliant file and then author a dvd or VCD. Use for example tmpenc xpress to convert the movie and then use tmpenc dvd author to create a dvd compliant dvd playable on a standalone dvd player.

If the mpeg movie is ok from the beginning, just use tmpenc dvd author and use the mpeg file is input file.
