I have the Pioneer DVR-510H for a recorder and just a simple Terapin TT-1800 DVD player. I am trying to play a DVD with the player and record it with my recorder at the same time but can't get it to work. Does anyone know the correct way to hook them up and make this work?

Hi JHammer33,

You aren't the first to try it and you won't be the last - It will never, ever happen.

The process is to break the encryption, take all of the files from the movie and put them onto your HD then edit and compress them then get a burner and burn them to disc.

You might have found that out if you had bothered to search the forum first -

Start of here (about the middle of the page) and do EVERYTHING IT SAYS. Don't even think about coming back if you've left anything not done exactly INCLUDING using the correct media -

Pete,

You do realize that I am not trying this with computer DVD recorder/players but on my TV right? It works with a DVD player and a VCR why won't it work with a DVD Player and a DVD recorder?

Because the DVD is encrypted to prevent pple from duping a movie -

Enjoy your VHS copy, it's the closest thing you'll ever get :(

(I still can't believe I used to think a VHS tape was such an excellent picture, whatever was I on . . . .

Pete and whoever else this will help: I finally figured out that I needed to change the input on both my DVD recorder and not just on the TV and whala it works. I take a seperate DVD player and run the outputs to the inputs on my DVD recorder and play the encrypted or any other DVD in the DVD player and I can record it with my Pioneer DVR-510H recorder. A perfect copy of any DVD. Without the hassle of using a computer.

True it is much much slower but I am watching any movie anyway so why not just make a copy of it while watching it?
