This is kind of a dumb question but although I have made hundreds of backups I have never used any inkjet printable dvd blank media. Does it require any special software to print directly on your media and if so what would be some recommendations? Could somebody explain this process to this dummy please? Thankyou.

If you pick the Epson R-200 then the "print to DVD s/w" comes with the printer. And the "DVD adapter" comes with the printer.

Epson R-200 User manual will explain all.

It's very easy, it just like to print a sheet of paper with manual feed option on any printer.

So it can't be done with just any printer. You need a special printer with a jig and software right?

Yep, you need a special printer. The good news is that they're fairly inexpensive now and they come with the necessary software :)

Just putting out the word for a company that I've dealt with before. Try them or don't try them. I came across this and had some information to share on the topic.

Yeah - not a good first post :-(
We don't even know where mort81 lives and this company is only is the US.

Yes you need a special printer until they sell inkjet printable "flexible" media"!! :-)

Btw, the results with the R200 are impressive.
R200/R300 will do the job.
If you are in the EU, Canon has the I865 and I965. These are not available in North America.
