Hi i have the MSI DR16-B (MS-8416B) with the latest firmware update on it and im finding it IMPOSSIBLE to burn at 1x or anything below 4x to be honest, is it just the drive, or software related, or firmware related... thanx

why do you want to burn sooo slow? I find 4x is the best speed to burn at.

I find when burning with Nero if i can not adjust the speed down it is more than lightly your media.If you can not knock the speed down in the speed box in Nero i reckon your drive can not reconize the media you are using properly.Download this freeware programe from the link below which will help you check your media.

I have finally solved the problem, i went to http://shop.store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrmedia/newrit4xdvme1.html and from the list of dvd-rw i purchased one and had no problem since!.. very useful site!..
