Ive downloaded disc id util and was wondering if i can burn it onto CDR or does it have to be on DVDR?

There is actually two versions of that...one for cd and one for dvd....u probably got dvd version...but check it out.

sorry for the late reply but how do i find out what version it is? i burnt it onto a cdr and when i run it on the ps2 i keep gettin diffrent codes with it! can u help me?

the site where you downlaoded it from should say, also pla read the .nfo file that came with it. I recommend getting the one with the 'font mod' as it will allow you to read the codes easier... the file i downloaded was zip file called DISCIDUTIL_FONT_MOD, and was the cdr version. works a treat once you get it going :)
