Can the silver ones be printed on with injet printers?

I thought they were thermal printable.

I like the Silver printables over the white versions..

They come out great and yes they are inkjet printable. Ritek Silver printable DVD-R G05 are a great affordable disc.

I just bought some Taiyo Yuden Silver printable dvd-r from supermedia.com but they were only 4x, (but i dont think this will matter).

Anyone else who has a r200, does yours print a few black marks on every disc that you print and in the same spots? Thats what mine does and now its starting to print a couple more marks in the middle too. This is really annoying and i am wondering if anyone knows why this is hapenning.

I have a R320 same difference just a few more bells & whistles.
Make sure you are cleaning the roller after ever disc you do. Do this by running a blank sheet of paper through using the Paper fee/paper eject option. If you haven't done this tou may need to do it a few times.

Thanks a lot Binkie, I wasn't cleaning enough, it looks like its getting better now.

Has anyone bought ink from:

http://private.abacus24-7.com/driver.aspx?topic=compatibility&com...

I am wondering if there are any problems with ink this cheap. I have a friend that bought ink like this online and he said the quality was not good at all with it.

I use that ink and it works fine.
Best deal I've found yet, two complete sets, 12 carts for $38.65 delivered.

I noticed the 6 cart sets are $2.00 more for the R200 than the R300.
Don't they use the same carts?

Hi Guys--
I noticed that you guys buy the Epson R200 inks from Abacus--I checked them out and they seem good, but I have purchased the inks from Supermedia Store--they are also generic, but they seem to work fine---and they are less expensive---have either of you tried the ones from Supermedia? Just trying to find out if maybe I am buying lousy cartridges--so far no problems though--

intriguing. i order dvd's etc.. from them but never ink. they are way more expensive on my canon ink and 45 cents cheaper on the epson ink. but I am not sure what they would charge for shipping. when ordered from abacus its $5 flat fee shipping.

So far my printer hasnt used more black and yellow, i've printed almost 50 dvds already and the ink is only about 30% gone (and each of the colors are all about equal in levels). The biggest problem I'm having is that the printer is leaving marks on each disc in the same spots, and it seems like its getting worse. Looks like 4 black scratches down the middle, and now its 8. I noticed that the printer does this when its scanning the dvd before it prints. It's weird and I am cleaning the rollers between every dvd too...

If I were you, I would call Epson Support (if you have had the printer less than a year--562-276-7296--OR http://support.epson.com on the internet

yeah, i called Epson support and emailed them, and we determined that the printer was faulty and needed service, but i was able to take it back to Staples and get a brand new one in exchange...with brand new ink too :) This one is printing fine also.

But I have a new problem now. I just got 100 silver Taiyo Yuden dvds in the mail the other day, but when I tried to print on the first one, it came out extremely blurry and almost no picture at all. It's almost like my printer can't handle the silver ones? I was thinking maybe my settings need to be changed, but i'm not sure. I hope someone out there knows how to print silver discs, it would save me a lot of testing. Thanks

@Atmos

The silver inkjet printables give you a 3D effect and the picture is not as sharp on the silver ones as the white inkjet printables, I have used the silver ones and I dont like them, I use the white ones

There are a few variations of the 'SILVER' printable, Thermal Silver Shiny disc's and specially coated silver inkjet disc's.

Generally the shiny discs are for thermal heat transfer printers and usually come out a blurry mess when printed on with a standard inkjet such as an epson R200 etc.

The other ones' as mentioned above generaly are less attractive if you use a big colour background but look stunning if you use mostly dark colours and shading.

Glad to here you got everything worked on the printer. As for the discs at least they're TY. I also use the silver thermal (no printing though)
and they burn great.

yeah you're right, I dont know why i didnt even realize that I can still use them, for movies without covers. So that is a relief. As for everything working on my printer though, I am still a little worried that this new printer is going to start to do the same thing as the last. I can't figure out what I could be doing to cause this though. I am starting to see very faint signs of black marks on the discs Im printing, (which got a lot worse with the last printer). So basically I am worried that it will do the same thing and they might not take a 2nd return at Staples.

well first you need to stop that. they "might not" take a second return ?

the only alternative to a second or more return is a full completel refund. period. that is the mindset you have to have when dealing with them or they WILL walk over you.

its not a maybe. its not a "can i return this" its Hi i am returning this for a replacement as it is not working again.

notice absoluteness in that. not can I but "I AM" its not a negotiation. dont let it become one.

If it's still under warranty they should. Even though your cleaning the roller after ever disc also try and do a print head cleaning. But if it's already starting to act up I wonder if that will help. Did you try emailing epson online support? Can't hurt.
I've had mine since December - and have probably printed maybe 200 or more discs. The only time I had a problem was when I forgot to clean the roller. Once cleaned never a problem again.
