I am a newbie at burning DVD'S I have a sony DWD18a burner, using nero 6.3.1 software, media ritek 8x dvd-r and my dvd player is a sony dvp-ns300. I am able to burn movies to my media, and they play fine on my PC,but when I play them on my dvd player they will only play in black and white (not in color) Any suggestions ???

Do the originals play in color on your set top?
What progy are you useing for your backups?
Do your backups play in color on your pc?

The movies that I am burning are from my hard drive.They play in color on my pc,but not on my standalone dvd player.

How did the movies get on your HD? Were they downloads or ripped from a dvd? That problem is something you usually get when trying to copy a PAL dvd to a NTSC copy.

Ok, depending what format the downloads are in, they probably need converted to proper dvd format. Check out this link, it may help you get started.

OK I will give that a try. I have been useing the encoder from Nero and it takes 4 to 8 hours to encode and burn a dvd.
