Another method is get the SLIM "ghost" Case, the tools builded into the case. Don't need to buy the SLIM Tool or Magic switch,....

The slimtool has worked great for me, no problems at all with playing any of my backups. Easy to install and no need for any opening or additional mods to your ps2.

I use the "PSTwo Magic Switch" with Swap magic 3.6.
I used the Tape method suggested at http://www.jspot.net/ps2.htm and it worked perfectly until i played a game with the lid open. The game stopped whilst i was playing it. I opened it up the console again & found that the tape had slipped - It probably wouldn't have crashed had i kept the lid closed. I'm now using Bluetack & it's been fine ever since.
I believe that if all the sensors are covered properly, all the time then there should be no problem. I had GTA:San Andreas in my console for weeks and never had any problems with it starting up because the lid hadn't been opened.
Does anyone know where you stand legally for playing back-up's on one of your LAN Consoles for LAN Gaming?

just installed the tape mod and played an original since I dont have SM or a dvd burner, Ill be burning an Import of Beatmania IIDX 9th style using my dad's dvd burner and will report back to here with the results of the operation, my warranty seal is still in contact but some of the V's O's I's and D's are showing, would that matter? can I still send stuff to sony? or would I have to take it back to wal mart?

You need DVD Decrypter or Alcohol 120...There are more softwares but them are the best!!! And you do need Swap Magic or a Modchip to play burnt games...

hey guys i have a problem i have had swap magic for about 6 to 7 months and now i have a problem were the playstaion won't read the disks properly and the load times are disgusting. the games used to run fine till about a couple months ago and now none of my game backups work. The media isnt he problem cause i tried to make new copies and they dont work either. I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was

Laser gone bad? Have you tried your oringinals? Cheap & nasty media written at high speeds ain't good for the little things

i was thinkin that the lazer might be bad but its not cause the originals work fine no problems at all but for my copies im using fuji film DVD-R burning at 1x using alcohol soft. But the thing is that the games work fine for about 45 minutes they play fine no problems, but after about 45 minutes the gtame freezes up in the middle of a race and the load times become disgusting. if i stop playing and come back about 5 to 4 hours later though the backups work fine again till about 45 min later. any ideas of what exactly is wrong? I would rteally appreciate it

The fact it happens after a certain amount of time suggests it's a heat problem. As i understand it the laser tends to work more when it's a burnt disc (opposed to a pressed one)
Have you moved it recently? Maybe on top of your DVD player or something? Try placing it further away from everything & maybe place it on a cool surface (Not ice though lol - Laptop cooling pad would be ideal)

alright ill try that thanks for the help ill let you know what happens after i try it. Is there any idea why this happened to me now i usually have the ps2 on a table and put it away during the week and right now i have it sitting elevated on a rubber ring, and it still happens. Well ill try what u said and see what happens thanks alot

Question....
I have read and read and read and read..........
I can't find anything about hdloader and the exploit installer for the slimline. I know you can use an external hd, swap magic, in essence everything you need to do the exploit. But I haven't actually read anything about someone doing it to a slimline. Is there no info cuz it works? Or because it doesn't? I have done the exploit with the fat ps2, so I know what to do. I would just like a little input so I don't waste my time on a fruitless endeavor.

can sum1 help plz.ive downloaded swapmagic off limewire so how would i burn the program onto a cd an wot type of cd do i need cd-r or dvd ? im also going 2 cover the lenses wiv a peice of card is that all i need 2 softmod people ps2's?

Downloaded copies of Swap Magic won't work!
You'd need a mod chip or an original copy of Swap Magic just to get them to work... rather pointless as you can see.
I could get all technical as to why it won't work, but I won't... just believe me when I say it won't work.
Pay the money dude. It is worth it
