Sorry dugestyle,

Not having my "Brainscan" tuned in awhile, - To what "beeps" are you refering ??

What proggys are you using to do what with and what are your specs, errors and steps ?

Ya have to provide something - anything to work with -

I'm using Nero to make a "dvd video". Everything goes well until i play it my dvd player. I get great video quality, but i makes these loud beeps every minute or so. Just tell me what else you need to know as I am kinda new....so I can I can get rid of these things. Thanks.

O.K., I tried to burn another movie this morning (again, one that plays fine on the computer). It played well until about five minutes into the movie and then the loud beep came in again lasting about 30 seconds. The beeps stay on this pattern coming about every five minutes or so. I dont understand. My movie files are in RAR form, then I extract files to get an AVI file. I then simply burn the AVI file with Nero (as a DVD-video) at 12x. This is all I do. Is there something I'm not doing right? Any help is greatly appreciated.

No worries dugestyle, it's what we do, deal with the "new guys" -

Normally we like to use NeroVision to render your AVI files into the proper format. These discs may play on your PC but playing on a player will be something else again.

Secondly, You've done well burning to a DVD at 12X, you've been extremely lucky. For DVD frying we usually recommend 4X as there's much less chance of errors. I know those higher speeds are tempting BUT Encoding (which you should be doing) and burning are the 2 hardest thing your processor ever does bar none ! Speed burning at 12X I'm supprised you haven't picked up a ton of problems. (With luck like yours, you should run, not walk to the Casino's and gamble, hell I'll give you some $$$ to gamble for me (Lol) -

Anyway, let's try NeroVision to get your files in the proper format and dial the cooking speed down a notch and see how well we do, OK ?

Let me know how you do -

Pete

The news is not good, now I get the same sound, but it is solid... no breaks in it. Kinda wierd huh? Now when I started it, Nero did something called transcoding. Is this the same as the encoding you were talking about or do I need to do that in a separate step myself? If so, what kind of software would I need to do this with? Thanx for hangin in here with me on this scuba. Talk to ya soon.

Hi Guy,

I don't know about the "noise thoing" BUT "Transcoding" means it's changing the files from one type to another (a Good thing).

I'm going to put a call into a Nero expert to see if we can get some more help -

TTYL,

Pete

Cool Pete. I appreciate all of your work. Hopefully I can return the favor sometime when I'm not such a dummy (with "cooking" as you call it). By the way, I scuba dive also, so you know we rock! Talk to ya soon to see what I should try next.

Hi Dugestyle,

This is a strange one. :-)

I assume you've tried slower write speeds and different brand of media, so lets try narrowing the problem down some.

Use the same process as always, but instead of burning to DVD, burn to your Hard Drive so that you generate a Video_TS folder with the VOB, IFO, BUP files contained in there.

Then use Nero Burning ROM and select the DVD-Video option. And copy the contents of your Video_TS folder on your Hard Drive to the Video_TS Folder in the Nero Burning ROM window. And now burn to DVD.

IF you go this route, do you still have this issue? Going this route, we are using the NeroAPI to burn, instead of the NeroVisionAPI.

Regards,

Craig
